Impact Stories
Real journeys of
courage and transformation.
Behind every performance is a story of struggle, resilience and rebirth. These are six of the many women whose lives have been transformed by Dance with Wheels.
Nidhi Gosalia
Mumbai, Maharashtra
Living with Cerebral Palsy, Nidhi had a deep love for dance but no platform to pursue it. DWW gave her a safe space to be seen, not judged. She traveled from Mumbai to Jaipur for her first-ever stage performance at Astitva 2025 — with her parents watching tearfully from the audience.
“Dance with Wheels gave me a platform where I could truly be myself — and the hope that my dreams are possible, no matter my limitations.“
Akansha Singh
Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh
A B.Tech graduate who survived multiple surgeries and emerged from depression in 2023, Akansha never imagined dancing in a wheelchair. By Astitva 2025, she surprised not only the audience — but herself. Her smile on stage became the image of the entire event.
“I never thought I would be able to dance, but Dance with Wheels gave me confidence, positivity, and a new way to live my life.“
Kirti Lowanshi
Seoni Malwa, Madhya Pradesh
A homemaker and mother with a T12 spinal cord injury, Kirti balanced family life while secretly dreaming of more. After performing at Astitva 2025, she was honored by a local MLA, received a cash reward, and her husband saw her potential in an entirely new light.
“Dance with Wheels helped me discover a new identity beyond my responsibilities. Today, I feel proud of myself and what I can achieve.”“
Manisha Patel
Dungarpur, Rajasthan
After losing her father mid-training, Manisha fell into grief and withdrew from sessions. The DWW community never gave up on her. She returned stronger, traveled from her small town to Jaipur, and performed on stage — believing her father was watching with pride.
“I feel my father would be proud to see me today. Dance with Wheels gave me the strength to stand again, in my own way.“
Pushpa Chouhan
Pipariya, Madhya Pradesh
Pushpa’s L1 spinal cord injury came from a fall in 2008. For 17 years, she had never traveled outside her city or imagined performing on stage. Astitva 2025 changed everything — her first stage performance came 17 years after her injury. A powerful, long-awaited comeback.
“Dance with Wheels has completely changed my life. It gave me the courage to step out, travel, and live again with confidence.“
Khushboo Verma
Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh
Diagnosed with spinal TB in 2013, Khushboo once hid from visitors and battled severe emotional isolation. DWW gave her wings — helping her rediscover the cheerful, expressive girl she once was. Today she continues her education while dancing with full joy.
“Dance with Wheels gave me wings to live my life again — and find happiness in the little moments.“
